A new single command and control system for Devon & Somerset, Dorset & Wiltshire, and Hampshire Fire & Rescue Services, has gone live. The single system, implemented under a programme that is estimated to save the three services £16.91m by 2024, is underpinned by Capita’s latest VisionDS technology and provides enhanced control centre functionality, greater resilience and reduced costs.
As part of our ongoing engagement with the end-users as part of the ESN Transition programme Capita have recently completed the first of a series of ESN Roundtables. The first, in conjunction with Wireless, was held at the beginning of March and brought together experts from across the sector to discuss the programme and the challenges faced in the transition. South Wales Police is the first UK police force to roll-out ControlWorks, which is now in full operational use across the force.
Capita helps London Fire Brigade launch new state-of-the-art mobilising system for handling 999 calls
The London Fire Brigade has launched a new state-of-the-art mobilising system for handling 999 calls in the capital. The new system, supplied by Capita Communication and Control Solutions, will be used by 999 control officers to deal with emergency fire calls and assign fire engines to emergencies. In London over 170,000 emergency fire calls are received each year.
The government’s Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme (ESMCP) is set to replace the Airwave service with a new national mobile communications service, to be known as the Emergency Services Network (ESN). The transition is scheduled for 2017 and 2019 and preparations need to begin. Capita has published a new paper to help agencies gain awareness of the issues that need addressing to complete a successful transition.
Capita Communication and Control Solutions has been awarded a joint contract by Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) to provide ‘Command and Control’ software.
